So Much Beauty

We are in day four of the Ice Storm of '09. Today the high will be in the low 20s and the low will be seven. Nothing is melting. The entire city looks like it's been decorated--the ordinary transformed. I'm going to try to get into the Lexington Cemetery today if it's open.

I cannot stop taking pictures.

Ricky Fitts in American Beauty: ""It was one of those days when it's a minute away from snowing and there's this electricity in the air, you can almost hear it. And this bag was, like, dancing with me. Like a little kid begging me to play with it. For fifteen minutes. And that's the day I knew there was this entire life behind things, and... this incredibly benevolent force, that wanted me to know there was no reason to be afraid, ever. Video's a poor excuse, I know. But it helps me remember... and I need to remember... Sometimes there's so much beauty in the world I feel like I can't take it, like my heart's going to cave in. ""

Smooches and remember to stop and see the beauty gropes babies.

It really is beautiful, but I don't miss it. I can gaze from afar.

Why do you want to go to the cemetery? You're not dead, are you?

I love the squirrel picture!

Your snow/ice is totally different than anything we ever get up here.

Great pics, though! I LOVE the last one. I've often seen that 'spiderweb' effect at night with heavy frost in the trees and the street lights. Great capture of it!

Umm - sorry about the caps thing. Ha!
You really need to frame some of those pics. I love the icy branch and the gracefully pic the most. Blow 'em up and frame them!

There have been a few bloggers who have posted pics of this icing, and they have all been powerfully beautiful! Yours are no exception.

Is it wrong of me to be glad it's happening somewhere else?

Stay warm and safe!

Beautiful photos.

I missed one I wish I had two weeks back as I'd left my camera at home.

As I write this the Big Thaw has set in -- it's 42, sunny, and feels warm.

Tomorrow it'll be below freezing again.

Are you going to check if everyone is ok in the cemetery or has one of Mr. Fab's "experiments" gone wrong again?
