Here, Right Here, My Dear

Hey y'all

It's HERE--the magic day!! FRIDAY!!!

I could write about how messy the house is blah blah blah....

Or what a bitch my day will be today---at least the first part --cause the second part Oh My*giggling*....

Yes--it's been hard to make the move and this huge change in my life.

I could expound profound about it.

But it's FRIDAY!!!

AND I'm so HAPPY!!!! I'm exhausted and work is crazy and the house is a wreck and not at all where I wanted it to be --but you know what? That just doesn't matter.

Because what's important starts with today.....

Thursday Edition No. 11

The magic number ---one--like the one and one of 11 Thursdays--like the one and only Etta James and "At Last".....

"I found a dream that I could speak to
A dream that I can call my own
I found a thrill to rest my cheek to
A thrill that I have never known"

mmmmmmmmmmm heaven --yesssss
"At Last" is a 1941 song written by Mack Gordon and Harry Warren and first performed by Glenn Miller. Although a hit for Glenn Miller it was largely forgotten until Etta James signature recording was released in 1961.

I'll admit I use memes as a crutch--like when I am exhausted and forget it's NOT Wednesday night (Sheesh y'all) and I'm all into doing the HNT. SIGH

I nicked this one from FINN (she nicked it from Karl)because I think it’s one that says a lot about the person. Plus adding the comments was fun!

Who Knew?

Me: Hi Mom how's everything going?

Mom: Oh I'm just making the cake for Monsignor then I'll make the cake for us.

Me: What cake?

Mom: Who...Oh this is (my real name)! I thought it was (sister no.1). How are you doing honey?

Me: Oh I'm fine Mom

Mom: You know I read your blog the other day. I see you have boobies.

Me: (laughing) Um..yeah Mom I've had boobies since I was 9 years old.

Later conversation with Sister No. 2

Me: So I'm talking to Mom and she says she read my blog and said "I see you have boobies."

Sister2: (laughing) Oh my god. She has been talking about it with (sister no 1) and she said to me " It's a little risque. It just isn't like her. That worries me."

Me: Oh my god (laughing)

Sister2: Yeah--she doesn't know you very well does she?

Me: (giggling) Oh my.

Hey y'all

As you head out for sales and barbeques and spend time with your loved ones take a moment to stop and remember.

Remember that someone is fighting for you right now.

Remember that your safety and relative peace depends on those willing to make the ultimate sacrifice.

Hey y'all

Please join me tonight at 8 PM on BlogTalkRadio on TurnbabyTalks as we discuss why women are so hard on other women. All viewpoints and anecdotal contributions are welcome. I know y'all have stories to share.

EDIT: My show is FEATURED on BlogTalkRadio tonight--they used Cissa's picture in the scroll.

You can hear all about it by clicking that lovely button at the top of this post. You can add your voice/story to the mix and CALL IN @ 646-716-8102. You can also join the ever lively chat room. Let's Build Something....Together

Hey y'all

As I am writing this I am waiting for my brand new washer and dryer to arrive from Lowe's. I'm all dorky happy over the fact that they are also delivering my new grill! And that I got to wander around Lowe's and put together a little tool kit for the new house.

The ex is kinda freaky about "HIS" tools and the tools I had before I got married were left with the barn stuff and are now gone--a story for another day. So I got some basics to do stuff here. I grew up in the country and I'm pretty handy around the house. So for all my 'girliness' I can 'git er done'.

Tomorrow I'll throw some meat on the grill and kind of monitor the NASCAR race cause the RadioRockBlock will take precedence. I'll be cheering on Jimmie Johnson to take the checkered flag in the Coca Cola 600. He's got a good record at Lowe's Motor Speedway.

I woke up with this song running through my head. It's been covered by Steve Earle and Sawyer Brown but I HAD to find the original by Dave Dudley because that's the one I hear;-) I fucking LOVE YouTube!!

Be sure to tune in to TurnbabyTalks on BlogTalkRadio at 8 PM tomorrow where we'll be discussing why women are so hard on each other.

I Can Dream

Hey y'all

I'm overwhelmed with stuff to do---but it's in the good way. I so love sleeping in this house. I've had trouble sleeping through the night for quite a while. But here I find I can relax--sleep----dream......

Dan Hartman --the video for I Can Dream About You (UK version) (Did you know Dan Hartman was in The Edgar Winter Group and wrote their hit Free Ride? )

While searching for that video--because I did not want to use the one from Streets of Fire (you see that playing in the one above)---I found this cool thing. These 'mashups' can be hit or miss--I think this one's a hit.

Dan Hartman-Relight My Fire mashed with Beyonce's Crazy in Love

Coming to You From The Red Room

Hey y'all

Yes that's my beautiful marvelous MacBookPro TETHERED to the cable broadband modem. And that sleek looking thing just to the left of her? THAT's my brand new Linksys N Ultra wireless router. See any cables coming out of it?? No?? Me either.

Because babies--that fucker has to be set up with a PC. It didn't even occur to me to check. After my sleek machine rejected the CD a few times I checked the "system requirements" on the box. Yup--XP or Vista (gag).

And you say "but Turn, don't you also own a PC laptop?" And you would be right but I haven't moved it yet. I discovered this at about 9:30 last night after I got my bed set up so I could spend the first night in my new house. Even though I was up way too late when I finally crawled in bed I slept like a baby.

And just in case you are wondering----no--these are not very good pics. While my cell can take really good pics it doesn't do too well indoors. And of course I forgot my camera on my last moving trip of the day.

So this morning babies my aching body is planted in a low slung beach chair in The Red Room.

Yup--this is where I am sitting and typing. The walls are fabric covered and this covers the entire ceiling as well. I think there is something possibly hypnotic about it because I'm starting to really like it.

I think I should probably get the wireless fixed soon--very soon.

Tidings of Comfort and Joy

Hey y'all

YES!!! I closed on the house yesterday!!! Of course there was some last minute drama--not by me cause I do NOT do 'drama' --- but that got sorted pretty quickly.

Luckily I left for the closing early beause as I was driving out there I realized that I had not yet switched any of the utilities except the cable/phone/broadband to my name. I called my trusty assistant who got me the numbers and I pulled into a shopping center near to where the closing would be to get that done.

After accomplishing that I still had half an hour to kill. Hmmm sit in Belle and twiddle my thumbs or hit TJ Maxx and see if there is anything interesting? Easy choice.

See I really needed--needed --yes NEEDED--shut up-- some new casual sandals--these are cute and the cork soled ones are comfortable beyond belief.

And then I found these---

and they were on sale! Ah yesssss---- joy!

So I went to the closing high on comfort and joy and all was well.

And the magic number is ten.

Oh It's Manic Alright

Hey y'all

It's Monday and sure as hell will be manic but I don't have time to play. So it's bullets for you babies---

  • I want to thank Miss Britt and Hilly for being awesome co-hosts on last night's TurnbabyTalks show. And thanks so much to Adam for calling in and to all the folks in chat. It was my highest live listener show ever on BlogTalkRadio and already has a good number of downloads! And to Fabby--I can't ever thank you enough.

  • Packing your stuff--even when you want to be packing and you get to leave stuff you don't want---really really sucks--and not in the good way.
  • Today at 5 PM I will close on the house. YAY!! The current owner has been seriously cool in letting me have access all weekend. It's clean --mostly--and I'm getting a feel for where I want things to go.

  • After leaving the new house Saturday at the end of 8 hours of mostly cleaning I went to Kroger to get something for supper. They had just unloaded a truck with lovely Jackson & Perkins rose bushes. I am leaving my roses at the old house and sort of sad about that. I bought five, loaded them into Belle, did my grocery shopping and then dropped them at the new house. That made me smile.

  • I did get in just in time to see the Preakness. If you have not seen the film of Big Brown's race from the overhead you need to find it and watch it. When the jockey asks him to go --with his hands and voice---no whip---it's like pressing a gas pedal--amazing and impressive.

  • I took the first loads of clothes to my house yesterday. I figured that no one would bother clothes so that would be the easiest thing to move before I actually closed today. I thought about taking shoes too but then visions of the neighborhood women--their eyes glazed and glassy shuffling toward my house grunting "shoes--shoes---we must have the shoes" made me come to my senses.*giggling*

Talking Men

Hey y'all

Tonight at 8 PM ET I'll be joined by Miss Britt and Hilly on TurnbabyTalks. BlogTalkRadio is FEATURING this show where we'll discuss 'man bashing'---what is it? Why is it considered acceptable? If it's 'funny' is it okay? You get the idea.

This ought to be a great show and I'd really appreciate it if you tune in. You can do that by clicking the lovely button at the top of this post. You can CALL IN by dialing 646-716-8102. You can also participate in the live chat.

If you can't make it live you an always listen to the archived show by clicking the player in my sidebar.

At 7 PM Mr. Fabulous takes on MetalMom in a steel-cage-loser-leave-town no holds barred grudge match--maybe ;-)

The Sunday RadioRockBlock kicks off at 5 PM with Secondhand Karl featuring Miss Britt and follows with Hilly at 6 PM on Snackiepoo Radio snagging that rarest of BTR guests-- the inimitable Avitable.

A Matter of Priorities

Hey y'all

I'm very late with the post as I've been sorting things at the new house. I had to be there at 8 AM (on a Saturday--YUCK) to wait for the cable guy to install the cable, phone and internet. He was an hour late and I just got internet access. YAY.

Of course that's the very first thing I had done at the new house--a girl's gotta have her priorities in order*giggling*

Be sure to tune in tomorrow night to TurnbabyTalks at 8 PM on BlogTalkRadio when Miss Britt and Hilly join me to discuss man bashing. We want you to chime in as well.

Home

Hey y'all

YAY for FRIDAY!!!

I'm still in 'when will it close?' limbo on the house. There's a small chance I can close today around 5 PM. That would make me a VERY happy camper. Worst case it will be sometime Monday---which really sucks and robs me of a whole weekend of moving stuff---but I can live with that.

So I've been packing--that's why I haven't made the rounds and my Reader is bursting with more than 450 items. But I'll be by eventually.

Keep your fingers and um...stuff... all crossed for a closing today.

I can't wait to be home.

Marc Broussard--Home

EDIT: The closing is Monday at 5 PM. I get access to the house to get the cable/phone/broadband hooked up tomorrow. I can also move stuff but I think I'll hold off and just clean it really good and keep packing. Thanks for all your good wishes!

Make sure you tune in to TurnbabyTalks at 8 PM Sunday on BlogTalkRadio and join Britt and Hilly as we expound profound on the topic of 'man bashing'.

A Lovely Evening

Hey y'all

Last evening I gathered with some friends at this lovely French restaurant Le Deauville. Lexington is a 'sister city' to Deauville, France. Lexington is also a restaurant loving town graced by many wonderful local establishments.

Yes it has white table cloths but it is a quaint, warm and welcoming place. They eventually opened those floor to ceiling windows and we enjoyed the fresh Kentucky spring evening from our cozy banquette.

I originally intended to do a bit of a review---the food is scrumptious and the service couldn't be more comfortably gracious. I will return many times this summer and at some point I'll do a proper review. But on such a lovely evening I simply relaxed with friends, giggling and laughing, being silly and naughty, sharing a small birthday celebration.

Delicious food, friends, wine and laughter--what better way to spend three hours give or take.

EDIT: In response to Fabby's comment--yes they serve delicious mussels five ways--complete with the best pomme frite around. But they also serve this amazing chocolate souffle. It was divine!

******************

Sunday on TurnbabyTalks at 8 PM on BlogTalkRadio we'll be discussing 'man bashing'. The topic this week was inspired by the turn taken in a thread of comments to a post I've been following and yet another tiresome email forward. I've asked for it to be featured and would love to have one or more of y'all guest on the show to opine on this subject. Should be quite a time. You can volunteer here or in email.

So What's New?

Me: Hi mom....I got your message, were you able to open your ecard?

Mom: Hi honey, no...it looks so cute but I can't open it. Maybe I'll have to type in the url.

Me: Well darn...it's really cute...I'll look at it again and see if I can sort it on my end.

Mom: Okay honey

Me: Oh and I've still got your Mother's Day present from last year sitting in my office.

Mom: *laughs* I know--I need to pick that up. You know that gardenia you sent me the year before is covered in blooms..not too many leaves but blooms everywhere.

Me: That's great! I love them.

Mom: So ..what's new with you?....anything going on in your life?

Me: *biglaugh* Well I'm getting a divorce--you knew that! Your message said you'd read it on my blog!

Mom: Well ..yes ......well...Is everything all right? Are you gonna be okay?

Me: Yes....everything's okay. I'm gonna be fine.

Mom: Well you know I love you and if there's anything you need....

Me: Thank you Mom I love you too. I'm good...things are moving along.

Mom: Well how is everything else? How's your show going? I didn't get to listen last night but I'll listen to the archive this week.

Me: Um...I don't think you ought to listen to that one Mom--it got a little rowdy. You probably need to skip this one.

Mom: Okay honey.

Hey y'all

Yesterday's BlogTalkRadio giggle fest was memorable in more ways than one. I learned so much!! And now I know I have the power to skeeve Britt out at will.

But ---being the giant DORK I am ---I just had to Google the catch phrase of the day to see if I could work it into a post *giggling* and I found a website that not only used it but made me LOLOLOL. I thought I'd share some of the reasons. What can I say? I'm a dork!

HEE HEE!!

The website is StickerGiant.com where you can have these made into a fridge magnet or bumper sticker and a whole lot more. And no --this is not a paid post---I'm just giving credit where it's due.

Real Live Talk

Hey y'all

Tonight on TurnbabyTalks at 8 PM on BlogTalkRadio we'll be discussing how friendships/relationships initiated over the Internet can be just as real as those in our 'bricks and mortar' world.

You can listen by clicking that lovely button at the top of this post. Please call in and add your two cents by dialing 646-716-8102. Or you can shout out in the always lively chat room. If you can't be there live you can listen to all my archived shows by clicking the player in my sidebar.

It ought to bring to a head a full on virtual meets 3D gab-a-thon as Hilly joins Mr. Fabulous on Pointless Drivel Live at 7 PM to continue discussing the ribald adventure that was Tequila Con 2008. You know there have to me more secrets yet to be shared--even after Jester joins Hilly on Snackie Radio for two fun filled hours beginning at 5 PM.

Just like I had to share this pic I took outside of the new abode on this gorgeous Kentucky spring afternoon.

Try To Make It Real? Compared To What?

Hey y'all

I've been thinking about the chorus in this song as I've been reading posts this week.

I have decided to spill some more 'real' than I normally do.

My biggest problem--trying to hold back.

So basics

--after a 12 year marriage(15 year relationship) I am divorcing. It's profoundly odd to draft your own divorce paperwork when that's what you do for your living.

--I really wanted to stay in my current house. I found it after a six month search. I pushed for it. I designed the kick ass deck. I was kinda invested.

--I took the advice I give my clients---I took the deal I offered--which means me moving out of that house.

--It's a very involved process buying a new house--but it's so awesome. I am psyched about the new house--I have pics and want to be all *squeeeee* BUT I don't want to jinx it.

--When I pull into the driveway--from the very first time I pulled into the driveway--it had that 'home'feel --and that's a feeling you don't walk away from easily.

Oh my--there is so much more.

However I must be prudent and leave you lusting after Taylor.

I'll share soon.

IRL? WTF?

Hey y'all

I'm late posting because I have a million things going on and I've been reveling in the joy I see in the accounts recapping Tequila Con 2008, especially here.

I knew that everyone would have an unforgettable time. Why? Because knowing who was going it simply had to be outrageous fun.

And I guess the folks who refuse to acknowledge that friends I've met online aren't really 'friends' until I meet them "in real life" wouldn't understand how I would 'know'.

That phrase 'in real life' truly chaps my ass when it is used to discount relationships initiated on the internet. People can be honest or dishonest in your bricks and mortar world just as often and easily as they can be on the internet.

This is 'real life'--it's just a different method of information exchange.

And while I believe it doesn't matter how we meet, I do agree that physical presence is the ultimate way to experience friendship. So I've enjoyed their time with each other in Philly vicariously --here in my real life.

I am SO gonna be there next year.

Derby Day Redux

Hey y'all

It was a fabulous Derby party. As you can see above the julep cups were frosted nicely and everything went down smooth.

I have to say that manning the betting boards is a tough but fun job. It does keep me sipping the juleps judiciously*giggling*

We had a little food a little more food

Did I mention there was food?

The ever awesome host and hostess engage in a smooch before things really get going. She works her ass off every year doing this thing and even though a few of us help no way would all of this get done without her amazing energy.

This party has been going on about 15 years and regular guests really get into the spirit and bring something to the party besides food. A new edition this year were commemorative 'trophies'.

Luckily the weather turned lovely just before the bulk of the crowd arrived

So everybody got to enjoy the Kentucky sunshine.

I managed to partake of the sumptuous spreadbefore assuming my position at the boards.

I did manage to grab my hat and camera and make a few party goers wear it for me

The view from under the hat!

I even put it on myself

I enjoyed the day and Big Brown's run and was saddened by Eight Belles' tragic race. I 'm really looking forward to next year's party and sharing a julep or two.

Talking Funny

Hey y'all

Tonight at 8 PM on TurnbabyTalks on BlogTalkRadio I'll be joined by Mr. Fabulous of Pointless Drivel Live, Jester of Jestertunes and Matt-man of Bagwine Ruminations to discuss whether "funny" trumps everything--the taboo, the politically correct, good taste. Considering the far ranging type of humor these guys bring to the table this ought to be one very interesting discussion.

You can join us live by clicking the lovely button at the top of this post. The number for you to call in and be a part of the discussion is 646-716-8102. You can also participate via the live chat. If you can't make it you can check it out in my archives by clicking the player in my sidebar.

And you should make it a point to tune in at 7 PM and catch Mr. Fabulous and his co-host Cissa Fireheart. I think the topic is human sacrifice but I might be wrong;-)

A perfect example of what I am talking about brought me an award this week. yes babies I won the "Comment of the Week" award over at Bagwine Ruminations. You can read all about it here. I went for the funny ---good taste and innuendo be damned!

My retort? That's what I get for being a smartass;-)

Hope to see you all tonight---and yes 'you' does mean some of you hung over tattooed boobie licking things from TC2008.

Run For The Roses

Hey y'all

It's DERBY DAY!

The horses trainers and jockeys are nervously awaiting their parade to the post and the ladies at Kroger have finished the garland and there's a julep or two with my name on it.

Yes the 'most exciting two minutes in sport' will occur late this afternoon. By that time my hat will be safely stored somewhere but I'll be sure to get another pic of me in it.

I'm waiting for the rain to stop so I can pick mint for the juleps. I'll be drinking mine in a traditional silver julep cup. It's the only time I ever mess up good Bourbon.

We make them by hand the way it was intended. At the Derby they'll be drinking that nasty 'premade' julep. UGH.

The infield should make for a grotesque spectacle with all the rain we've had over the past couple of days. Be sure to tune in cause I guarantee there'll be some chicks mud wrestling before the day is through. I'm proud to say I've never been in the infield.;-)

I will foolishly bet money on Eight Belles. (and hedge that with Big Brown) My car is silver and named Belle. The filly is grey and named Belle---come on--how can you refute that logic? *giggling*

We do have a new betting pool this year---$1 buys you a chance to win $20 if your horse finishes dead last. There's even a trophy!

*****************

Remember to tune in at 8 PM tomorrow night to TurnbabyTalks on BlogTalkRadio as Mr. Fabulous , Matt-Man and Jester join me to discuss "Does 'funny' trump everything?". Should be a lot of fun.

Crazy Love

Hey y'all

Last night I started my part of the Derby party prep---I did a 'test run' of the bacon wrapped Tater Tots. All I can say is omg---they are food CRACK! They are even good cold although I have to admit that there weren't that many left to sample cold. *giggling* Yeah they are SOOO making the menu--well that is if I can get them to her house without eating them all.

This afternoon lots of chicas will converge on Chez Martha to continue party preparations. It's almost as fun as the party itself.

I'll be sure to take pics tomorrow. And don't forget to come by on Sunday and check out TurnbabyTalks at 8 PM on BlogTalkRadio. Mr Fabulous and Jester are joining me to talk about whether 'funny' trumps everything.

And because it's Friday babies, here's a little mellow love song to start your weekend. This is one of my all time favorites. So if you have your sweetheart there hold them close and sway along.

Mmmmmmmmmmm

Thursday Edition No. 7

It's Kentucky Derby time---hence the headgear---- so be sure to catch the big race on Saturday. I'll be manning the tote boards at my friend's big ole Derby party with mint julep in hand. I have a tip on the race from someone most special*giggle* and you can be sure I'll be placing that bet.

Sunday at 8 PM on TurnbabyTalks on BlogTalkRadio Mr. Fabulous, Jester and hopefully a few more funny folks will discuss my topic "Does Funny Trump Everything?" it ought to be a great show and I hope you can stop by.

Smooches and gropes and place your BETS babies;-)
