Snow Day!

I have, on average, a twenty five minute commute from a suburb on the South side of town to my office downtown. Brad has a fifty minute commute South that is mostly on I-75.

So guess who is at home taking a snow day today? ME

Why you say? Because Lexington cannot for the life of it get a handle on making the roads and sidewalks 'safe' during the snowy icy messy winter.

I am an excellent driver, even in this sort of mess and Belle is a sure footed beast but it's a sucker bet to put one's self out and about amongst the crazies here if you don't have to do it.

So I brought files home yesterday and will work from the house. And cook supper in the crock pot because more nuts will be fried. And snuggle with the babies. And shovel snow. And make Christmas cookies. And at some point build a fire and turn on the lights on the tree early.

And I will count the minutes until Brad is safely home.

Smooches and some snowy snuggly gropes babies.

if you only knew what we suffer through around here, as Brad...he'll tell you horror stories. we are obviously much tougher around here than in Kentucky.

Yeah, we had some of that snow stuff here a few years ago. I tried to get a picture, but it was gone by the time I found my camera. I don't know why you go on about it. It's kind of pretty and can in no way affect our lives whatsoever.

Robin: Oh I know sugar--and he has regaled me with tales of his driving prowess from --what---16 years or so ago. I hope you all are recovering from the ice storm. We had a very bad one here not that long ago.

Grant;HAH! If there hadn't been the snowy icy mess then YOU wouldn't have had a post from me-so there ;-)

Around here, idiots are on the road when it rains, since it comes so infrequently. Hope Brad makes it home safely.

BTW, my layered meme is up.

same thing in central ohio... local newscasts put fear of icy death on frozen highways of terror... and the snow-dorks drive 5 mph on dry interstates. you were smart to stay home.

The big storm that closed schools yesterday and caused the MILK & BREAD runs by the populous of Memphis, never even emerged...sheesh

It's snowing here, too. It's been a couple of harrowing days on the roads in this part of the world.

Robin is a kindred spirit. We New Englanders are made of much sterner stuff. I never thought of calling in because of the weather back in the old days, and that included when I drove for a living. And I always had long commutes back home. Hey, if work was open, I was gonna be there. My work ethic is sick.

You better get used to it. It's gonna be a long winter :)

Oh, plus the WoW servers are down for maintenance on Tuesdays. Might as well go to work :)

We're supposedly due for a big storm sometime after midnight tonight (that's Tues/Wed). I've got my work laptop here just in case so I can dial in and do some work.

We'll see how things look in the A.M.

Stay warm!

Damned if I don't feel your pain... took me 2 hours to get to work yesterday and I didn't get to come home Monday night!
Feels good to be home now in my flannels! I wish I could take snow days without getting the wrath of Lucy-pher....

I wish more people were like you. Seriously... I have big issues with bad weather drivers who do crazy things.

Sadly, those aren't usually the ones I end up cutting out of their cars... it's the good drivers who get clipped by a crazy.

before i got my suv i would make the cfo pick me up on her way to work. little 1986 light weight, rear wheel drive car no likey snow. or water on the roads for that matter! but these days i throw it in four wheel drive, avoid the stupid roads and pray that i don't get ice or dumbass drivers. thankfully i've done ok for myself. although i might just call kim and tell her i need a ride next time it snows. that was fun.

>>I am an excellent driver<<

I expected a Rain Man joke from someone. Do I have the quote wrong?

It never hurts to take a snow day. And sometimes you get a lot more done without the distractions of coworkers.
