It's That Time Of Year...

..when the world falls in love". I can hear Karen Carpenter singing that Christmas song in three quarter time and it makes me smile because I am enjoying this holiday season so much. I want to give each moment a squeeze before moving on to the next.

I'm in full on dork-in-love mode today so you might want to bail out now;-)

We got our first tree on Saturday. It's just perfect. I am a tree 'hunter' and very picky and Brad was quite patient and supportive. It was so nice not to feel like I was on the Bataan Death March in doing this seasonal trek.

It didn't take long to find this one though. And even though we had never measured the ceilings on the first floor(they are 9 feet--I just measured)) this tree fits with just a whisper to spare. I had the clippers handy but didn't need them.

As you may know decorating the tree is a long process for me so tonight it's lights and the star then finishing up over the next couple of days. You know there will be pics;-)

The house smells lovely.

And yesterday we had a long, languorous day -- doing little things and just enjoying being together. It was one of those Sundays that seemed to go on forever in the best way. I made a hearty soup (turkey of course) and we had a cozy fire to keep us toasty. The babies came back to stay with us for the week and we all snuggled to sweet dreams in the big bed.

The only thing that could have made it better was for us to wake to a foot of snow this morning so that we could be snowed in for a couple of days.

I am tackling this blustery Monday with a big smile.

Smooches and some cheery gropes babies.

oh lol, Bataan death march.

i exasperate my family too sometimes. my trees are always named Otis or Bubba, depending on size, and i usually pick the biggest most obnoxious tree in the lot. last year we actually almost couldn't get it into the house. but it was glorious! next to the fireplace, just glorious!

your tree is lovely, sweetie.

Hopefully your tree isn't full of snakes or flesh-eating bugs.

There is nothing like a fresh tree and yours is gorgeous!!

Happy decorating! Just be careful that Brad doesn't load it up with all those sculpy ornaments!!

I'm sure there's a very special ornament that'll be going on that tree.

Whew...you really do get all dorky, don't you? Great looking tree though!

My Christmas doesn't get to start until the 16th. Too busy before then. Unfortunately, no tree for me this year. But I won't need a tree to get me in the spirit!

That sounds nice but your tree is leaning to my left. Cheers!!

No Matt...you only have one shoe on, so it LOOKS like the tree is leaning

You and my mother are sisters, aren't you? She's the pickiest tree shopper/decorator I've ever known. And now I know two. :)

What a beautiful tree!

I grew up with fake trees...and I still do fake trees. :( I am real Christmas tree illiterate, and I guess I'm skeered I might burn the house down with the lights or something. But I can just imagine how lovely it must smell...

I love this post. I'm so happy for you.

Oh, and I'll bet the Horse Park is absolutely beautiful this time of year!
