TurnbabyTalks with Bond!

Hey y'all---Yup the rumor is true---at 8 PM tonight during TurnbabyTalks on BlogTalkRadio I will be joined by the ever angelic BOND of Bond's Big Leather Couch and Master of Ceremonies of the always lively chat room during Doctor Blogstein's Radio Happy Hour.

The really special part is that he will be sitting at my kitchen table. he and his lovely friend are speeding toward Casa Turn as I type this to spend a couple of days and ring in the New Year. I can't say exactly what will happen except that we'll likely be burping Bond's homemade lasagna and loopy on Sambuca by then.

Be sure to join us live at 8 PM ET for all the fun. Just click on the lovely button at the head of this post. You can participate in chat, IM me on Yahoo and CALL IN @ 646-716-8102. If you can't make the live broadcast you can always catch it in archives by clicking the player in my sidebar.

And please take a second and give the show a rating.

Be sure to turn in at 7 PM ET to Pointless Drivel Live and Mr. Fabulous and his guest the Absurdist. Seems like it will be a messy show tonight--I think they are sacrificing small children or something---but it's all in good fun.

Hope to see you later babies--I'm off to make the salad.

And thank you so much to Trav and Matty for 'pimpin' me.

Oh and be sure to stop by tomorrow--I am doing more Haiku---I thought that would be a cool way to end one year and start the new.

I Fooled Around And....

Hey y'all

On of my favorite things on the internetz is YouTube--how can you not love it??? Combining the surreal and the sublime, the mundane and the morose (yeah I went there--sigh--*giggle*) it's a great equalizer. Screw TV--I've got YouTube.

I went looking for this because I heard a snippet of it while waiting to get my hair cut today and I LOVE this song---watching Bryan Ferry not so much --but the song --purrrrr

And that song made me want to find this song and ---well--- it's just yummy

And in finding those I saw this--- check her out--it's a keeper.

Tis the Season----Still

Hey y'all

Yeah it's 'the season' still. I guess being raised Catholic inured me to 'twelve days of Christmas' or maybe I am just a classic procrastinator. LOL. I've watched the bulk of the 24 hours of A Christmas Story so you just never know what I might write. ;-)

Anywho I got this awesome handmade ornament from Fabby

And as you can see it was the very first one on the tree

That I finally finished decorating tonight---
yes babies it will stay up through the New Year and wasn't done to my liking when the family was over yesterday so I finished it today.

Yeah it took a while but now it's nestled snugly next to a few hundred glass icicles. They may have something to do with how long it takes to get the tree finished *tee hee*

I hope everyone had a wonderful day---however you define wonderful.

Here we go with a selection of some fine and funny haiku......

Hey Y'all

Holiday Haiku Redux will be up later today AND if you can please tune in to my BlogTalkRadio show TurnbabyTalks tonight at 8 PM when the lovely and talented Janna of the Jannaverse will be my Special Guest.

Snark and grinchiness will abound as we skewer some traditional songs and have a great time reading some of our own Holiday Haiku PLUS some of the awesome gems y'all have written.

It ought to be a blast and a much needed break for all. Join us live at 8 PM by simply clicking the button at the top of this post. You can participate in chat and you can call in and read your own haiku by dialing 646-716-8102. You can always IM me at TurnbabyTalks on Yahoo. If you can't listen live you can always listen in archives by clicking the player in my sidebar.

And be sure to catch Mr. Fabulous on Pointless Drivel Live right before me at 7 PM on BTR. He and co-host Robin will let fly with a virtual hailstorm of BAH HUMBUG---just the thing to top off the season.

Just so you know--as I post this it's 9:40 AM December 23, 2007. I have purchased ZERO presents. So now you know--because --so help me--if one more fucker asks me if I've finished my Christmas shopping yet I am gonna explode!

Holiday Haiku

Hey y'all

*singing* It's that time of year when the world falls in love..... oh wait-holding off on the Christmas songs for now*giggling*

Let's DO HOLIDAY HAIKU!!!

If you've read this blog at all you know I am a geek and something of a haiku freak. They are FUN and once I get going it's hard to stop .....not that there's anything wrong with that ;-)

Haiku is a form of Japanese poetry. You have three lines of five, seven, and five syllables. Within those 17 syllables the idea is to paint a clear picture designed to arouse a distinct emotion and suggest spiritual insight--it doesn't have to be a "scary ghost story" but it can be ;-)

You post yours in comments or email and I'll put them in a post to follow.

Okay---I always lead off with a few to get us started so here we go y'all:

The lights on my tree
beckon me to stop and smile;
precious memories

My kitchen full of
family; warmth, calories
and much love abound

The sleigh bells jingle
and my little dog goes nuts;
she's Grinchy that way

The best presents are the
ones you think you'll never have
then fate delights you

I could go on and on .... BUT it's YOUR turn now

Post in comments or email and I'll put up a post with all of them. It's easy and fun.

AND

Be sure to tune in on Sunday to TurnbabyTalks on BlogTalkRadio at 8 PM when Ms. Janna of The Jannaverse will join me for 60 minutes of snarky and hopefully musical fun--who knows what we'll come up with ;-)I've already started thinking of naughty and funny Christmas song parodies--We are also gonna read some of the Holiday Haiku--so get yours in!!

Yeah babies---I left ya a big fat pitch right over the plate....

Smooches and gropes!!

Sometimes You Just Gotta MeMe

Hey y'all

Sometimes I want to post but things are so crazy I need some framework to collect some of my thoughts into a coherent mass. I have two or three really profound sort of posts rambling about in my brain right now---and I don't have the time to do them justice just yet so I thought I'd do this Meme. I saw it at Ian's and Lizza's who both got it from Mimi--the venerable Queen of Memes and owner of one scary dungeon.

I need to...... so here we go......

1. If a doctor told you TODAY that you were pregnant, what would you say?
LMAO cause I had a hysterectomy almost four years ago ;-)

2. Do you trust all of your friends?
I trust my friends or they wouldn't be my friends.

3. Would you move to another state or country to be with the one you love?
Absolutely positively yes.

4. Do you believe that everything happens for a reason?
I do--even though it's somewhat trite to say it. I wouldn't be the person I am today unless I'd experienced the highs and lows in my life.

5. Can you make a dollar in change right now?
Yup

6. Which one of your friends do you think would make the best doctor?
Well I have friends that ARE doctors and friends that would like to play doctor---do those count?

7. Are you afraid of falling in love?
Nope. It's the best most amazing thing in the world.

9. Is there someone who pops into your mind at random times?
Yup as long as you define random as constantly.;-)

10. What's your most favorite scar?

I have two--one on the index finger of my right hand. I was eight or so and my mom was at a PTA meeting and my dad was downstairs working on his stock car. I had to feed the dogs and I didn't get the dog food can open all the way. So I used a spoon to try and pry it and I sliced my finger open and began to scream. Dad ran upstairs and saw the blood and grabbed my wrist and did the 'dad' tourniquet with his hand. I was passing out from the blood and he was holding me up. After it slowed he applied the 'dad' bandage of clean paper towel and black electrician's tape. I guess it's weird that it's special but that's just me.

My other favorite is my hysterectomy scar--it's barely visible but when i see that smile I smile right back---it was the best. surgery. evah!

11. When was the last time you flew in a plane?
March 2007 from four glorious days with my Soul Patrol crew seeing Taylor Hicks in Atlanta and Birmingham. WOOOOOOOOOOOOO

12. What did the last text message you sent say?
I love you.

14. Fill in the blank. I love it when ________ pops over.
Question #13

17. How many kids do you want to have?
The puggies and Booger are pretty good 'kids'.

18. Would you make a good parent?
I've been a step-parent since I was 36--12 years now--I think I am a pretty good one.

19. On your My space, where was your default picture taken?
I don't have a pic on MySpace. I only have an account there to check on things for clients.

20. What's your middle name?
The same as the first name of the wife of Henry the VIII who had three nipples.

21. Honestly, what's on your mind right now?
Intense amazingly romantic very naughty sex.

22. If you could go back in time and change something, what would it be?
I wouldn't change anything----I am who I am because of what happened in the past.

23. Who was or will be the maid of honor/ best man in your wedding?
My sister.

24. What are you wearing right now?
Ragg wool socks--sweats--a yummy warm sweat shirt, a turtleneck, and a big old Irish Cardigan--it's frickin cold!

25. Righty or Lefty?
Righty-tighty.

26. Best place to eat?
Depends on what you are eating sugar;-)

27. Favorite jeans?
Black Ralph Lauren Traditional Rise Boot Cut

28. Favorite animal?
Horses

29. Favorite juice?
Skillfully fermented grape juice.

30. Have you had the chicken pox?
Yup--all four girls during Christmas one year.

31. Have you had a sore throat?

Yes--now usually caused by allergies.

32. Ever had a bar fight?
Does it count if it was in the parking lot? ;-)

33. Who knows you the best?
My best friend.

34. Shoe size?
9

35. Do you wear contact lenses or glasses?
Readers--only when I have to. Even the weakest ones make me ill if I move my head at all.

36. Ever been in a fight with your pet?
Yup. Chloe--one of the rescued pugs just would not let us clip her toenails. Finally I took her out by myself and made it so she had to stop fighting--i didn't hurt her--just made it so she could figure out i was going to do it and she was not going to get away. We got through that and she is a million times better now. She's finally figured out i am not going to hurt her as she had been hurt in the past.

37. Been to Mexico?
Yes---when I was six or seven my grandmother and I traveled by bus to El Paso Texas to help my aunt move back from there. We ventured across to Juarez --there's a funny picture of me in a sombrero sitting on a fake horse somewhere.

38. Did you buy something today?
Yup--new battery for the Razr--wore the other one out ;-)

39. Did you get sick today?
Nope.

40. Do you miss someone today?
Yes---even though they are always with me I miss their physical presence.

41. Did you get in a fight with someone today?
Nope. I did shame someone--not the same thing.

42. When is the last time you had a massage?
It's been WAYYYYY too damn long.

43. Last person to lay in your bed?
Me

44. Last person to see you cry?
The DH

45. Who made you cry?
I let myself

46. What was the last TV show you watched?
Family Guy

47. What are your plans for the weekend?
Christmas craziness right up until Mr. Fabulous' anti-Christmas show at 7 PM on Sunday and then at 8 PM my show TurnbabyTalks on BlogTalkRadio.com

48. Who do you think will play along?
Anyone who wants---it's a handy thing this time of year.

49. Who was the last person you hung out with?
My best friend

50. If your "significant other" asked you to marry them TODAY what would you say?
Well of course I'd say yes---if one is my 'significant other' how could I answer differently ;-)

Shewwwww that was long!!

I hope y'all enjoyed it .

Welcome To My World

Hey y'all

TurnbabyTalks
hits show number 20 tonight at 8 PM EST on BlogTalkRadio. ---Wow--- it's kind of strange to think that there's 19 and a half hours of me rambling and giggling and being naughty preserved for posterity*snarf*

So tonight it's Welcome To My World. I am taking questions from listeners about...ANYTHING!! Come and join the fun. You know you want to ;-). You can email questions ahead of time to TurnbabyTalks@yahoo.com.

Of course as you listen LIVE you can always ask a question in the chat (be sure to sign up first so I know who you are) or you can CALL IN at 646-716-8102. And remember if the chat is dicey at first refresh. I still have the Yahoo IM on as well--TurnbabyTalks. If you can't listen live you can always listen to the show in archives by clicking on the nifty BlogTalkRadio player in my sidebar.

And I'd really appreciate it if you would take a second to give the show a rating. I'd like to become a featured host and ratings will help my case babies.

And be sure to get your engines revved by listening to Mr Fabulous on Pointless Drivel Live. Tonight he's joined by co-host Howard who is, according to Fabby, the Captain and Tenille's prison bitch. Hmmmmmm ----maybe we'll get to hear about the real meaning of Muskrat Love.

I hope you can make it.

So How Was Your Day?

Hey y'all

I know it's been a sparse posting week for me and I haven't been able to get around to reading everyone's blogs. It's been busy, over-the-top and more than a touch remarkable. I couldn't post about it until now.

I had to wait for the police to call and tell me how things had gone.

You don't write that sentence very often even doing what I do for a living.

I spent a chunk of the week getting ready for a hearing on Thursday that would bring to an end the divorce case I have had open the longest---about two and a half years---yeah they get stooooopid sometimes.

Just before we took a break I got a text from my assistant to call my office immediately. When I did I was given the number for a local homicide detective---he needed to speak to me about one of my clients. Trust me---that kind of message gets your attention.

The problem was I still had about an hour and a half before I would be able to call him and I had to try and turn my full attention back to the hearing I was doing and the long suffering client I had sitting next to me. I informed everyone about the other issue and then I put it out of my head and went back to work.

I spent the lunch break with six homicide/family abuse detectives. Fortunately my client is alive but it's a scary situation. Her husband had traveled to an ex-girlfriend's and told her that he planned to kill my client, the two year old daughter they share and the client's new boyfriend this weekend. He said that he had purchased everything he needed to "off them all."

The police wanted to try and catch him with the items because it would be a 'substantial step' and he could be arrested. I had to scramble and find the judge on that case and get an okay to do an order prohibiting contact without informing the other attorney in the case.

Oh--then I went back to my hearing. I got to have a "Perry Mason" moment that topped a slam dunk win and ended two and a half years of agony for that client. Then I flew to my office and spent a while comforting and reassuring my threatened client that there were people working hard to try and protect her.

The reason I had to wait to share the story is because they set it up to stop him this morning. He didn't have anything with him so they could not arrest him.

So all she has now is a piece of paper I drafted and the judge signed saying he can't have any contact with her.

I just hope he was bluffing.

And The Winner Is....

Hey y'all

Tonight on my BlogTalkRadio show TurnbabyTalks I am happy to welcome back author Ian T. Healy fresh off his fourth NaNoWriMo win!!

We'll talk about his win and how he managed to crank out more than fifty thousand words and still not be finished with his story.

We'll also talk about my struggles with NaNo that contributed to my not making it to the 50,000 word count.

Ian's a very talented and generous writer so be sure to tune in--you'll certainly be entertained and you just might learn something ;-)

You can click on the button at the top of this post to take you directly to tonight's show where you can listen LIVE, participate in chat and CALL IN AT 646-716-8102. If you can't tune it at 8 PM you can always listen to any show in archives by clicking on the player in my sidebar. You can always IM me at TurnbabyTalks on Yahoo as well.

And if you'd look about there you'll see a place where you can rate the show pretty please.

And be sure to check out Pointless Drivel Live at 7PM as Mr. Fabulous is joined by co-host Poppy who is soooooo pretty. It seems the'll be discussing the merits of Sammy Hagar tunes and I am certain lots of other quite interesting and amusing things.

Hope to see you all tonight.
